Common Questions Before We Cut Timber
Most freestanding commissions (dining tables, credenzas, platform beds, and desks) require 7 to 10 weeks from 1:10 blueprint sign-off. Multi-cabinet architectural library walls or bespoke kitchen islands typically require 10 to 14 weeks. Because our polymerized tung oil finish cures over 14 days for maximum water and heat resistance, we never rush the finishing room.
Yes. Within 250 miles of Portland (including Seattle, Bend, Hood River, and the Oregon Coast), our own cabinetmakers deliver and install every piece in our climate-controlled shop van. For clients across the continental United States, we build custom foam-lined plywood shipping crates in-house and dispatch via white-glove fine-art blanket carriers.
Absolutely — it is one of our favorite parts of the process. Once your deposit is logged, we pull three candidate boules from our kiln racks, mist the rough grain with mineral spirits so you can see the true figure and color, and chalk out your tabletop or drawer front patterns together. For remote clients, we film a high-resolution video walkthrough of the boards.
Unlike brittle polyurethane plastic coatings that peel and require chemical stripping when scratched, our 6-coat polymerized tung oil and carnauba wax finish cures inside the wood fibers. It shrugs off red wine, coffee, and daily family meals. Better yet, if a surface ever picks up a scratch years from now, you can buff it out in two minutes with the tin of shop beeswax included in your delivery crate.
Over 40% of our bench calendar is built in partnership with AIA architects and interior design studios. We provide full DWG/DXF shop drawings, physical 150×150mm oiled hardwood sample boards for client presentations, and coordinate directly with general contractors on blocking, electrical pass-throughs, and site scribing.
Every piece stamped with our shop mark is guaranteed for the life of the original maker and the life of the piece against any joinery failure, tenon loosening, or structural splitting under normal indoor residential use (30%–60% relative humidity). If a joint ever needs adjustment, we repair it at our bench free of charge.
